The Division of Thoracic Surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) offers comprehensive evaluation and advanced surgical treatment for a range of conditions affecting the chest wall (ribcage), breastbone (sternum) and diaphragm, including congenital issues and those caused by injury or illness.
Diseases of the chest wall and diaphragm may be congenital or acquired. Many are the result of trauma or malignancy. Our board-certified thoracic surgeons have sub-specialty training in the repair and reconstruction of the chest wall and sternum. All of our surgeons are faculty at Harvard Medical School and many are physician-researchers at the forefront of new therapies and cures—advancing their studies from laboratory to direct patient care.
We collaborate with clinicians throughout BWH and communicate openly with patients and families to create patient-focused care plans that consider individual needs. Along with a supportive clinical and administrative staff, we work as one cohesive team to provide the best possible care for each patient. In addition, patients have full access to world-renowned Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
