Overall Goals of the Program
The overall goal of the program is to develop MRI methods that provide noninvasive maps of pulmonary function that can improve the diagnostic potential of MRI and provide new information about pulmonary physiology. We are accomplishing this using a number of different approaches: (i) hyperpolarized 129Xe MRI, (ii) novel proton MRI both with endogenous proton contrast and with intravenous injected Gd-based contrast, and (iii) very low field portable devices for both the ICU and field operation.
