Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital Inpatient Psychiatry
The Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital 24-bed locked inpatient psychiatric unit cares for patients 16 years of age and older. Our services include diagnostic evaluation, treatment planning, individual and group psychotherapy, psychopharmacology consultation, and electroconvulsive therapy (ECT).
In addition to caring for patients with a wide variety of psychiatric disorders including mood, anxiety and psychosis, we also care for patients with co-occurring medical conditions and substance use disorders.
Our approaches to patient care are collaborative, trauma informed, patient centered, and recovery oriented. The interdisciplinary treatment teams include an attending psychiatrist, social worker, psychiatric nurse, psychiatric resident, mental health worker, occupational therapist and case managers.
The Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital Department of Psychiatry is a major teaching site for the Brigham/Harvard Medical School Psychiatry Residency Program and the Brigham Psychology Residency. In addition to training Harvard Medical students and physician assistant students, we have trainees in occupational therapy, social work and nursing.
We receive referrals from multiple sources, including the Emergency Departments and Medical Departments at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Faulkner Hospital, outpatient clinicians, and other sources in Greater Boston and beyond.
