Advanced Practicum Programs

The Department of Psychiatry provides advanced practicum training for doctoral graduate students in psychology within both outpatient and inpatient settings. Outpatient training is provided within the ambulatory psychology service (Brigham Psychiatric Specialties (BPS)). Inpatient training is offered within the inpatient psychology service (2 South) at the Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital campus. Advanced practicum training is designed to provide 3rd or 4th year doctoral students in psychology with an enriching 9-month (September through May) placement to develop expertise in psychological practice competencies including ethical/legal issues, intervention, assessment, as well as individual and cultural diversity. The program is for advanced practicum students who can commit to a 3 or 4-day training schedule for a total commitment of 20-24 hours each week.
