The Department of Pediatric Newborn Medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) provides expert neonatal care and antenatal counseling for families whose babies might need specialized services during pregnancy and after delivery. Our program includes a core group of neonatal specialists with expertise in fetal and neonatal care.
We meet with families in the Neonatal Fetal Care Clinic in the BWH Center for Maternal-Fetal Medicine to counsel parents about anticipated specialized services and to assist with transition of care from pregnancy to the newborn period. This is done while actively supporting family-centered and developmental care. Our team of neonatal specialists also provides care for babies in the delivery room and in The Richard and Susan Smith Family Foundation Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU). We work closely with BWH obstetricians specializing in high-risk pregnancies as well as with pediatric subspecialists from Boston Children’s Hospital and sometimes other facilities.
