We offer several CPE units throughout the year. Below is general information about each upcoming unit. Applications are accepted by mail or electronically. If submitting electronically, please still submit your application fee by mail with a note clearly stating the applicant's name.

Extended Unit (Applications Open)
Level Ia/Ib and Level IIa/IIb CPE students are considered for this 30-week unit. The time commitment is two full days of orientation, 4 hours a week for class time, and an average of 10 hours per week clinical time, including weekend on-call and overnight shifts. This unit comprises 400 hours of educational components and clinical care.

Extended Unit Dates – September 29, 2025 – May 1, 2026
Daytime Cohort: Meets Tuesday mornings from 9 am – 1 pm
Evening Cohort: Meets Thursday evenings from 5 – 9 pm

Intensive Unit (Summer 2025) - APPLICATIONS CLOSED
Level Ia/Ib and Level IIa/IIb CPE students are considered for this 11-week unit. The time commitment is 40 hours a week, including weekly on-call overnight shifts. This unit comprises 400 hours of educational components and clinical care.

Residency Unit (Academic Year 2025–2026)
Level Ib and Level IIa CPE students are considered for the residency. The residency program offers 3 CPE units over the academic year. This 9-month program is a 40-hour per week position. That time includes clinical patient care, regularly scheduled overnight on-call shifts, and class time. Residents are also eligible for benefit time and have breaks from class time scheduled in between each unit.
Applicants must have completed one unit of ACPE-accredited Level Ia/Ib CPE prior to applying for residency.

- CPE residents are BWH employees and are benefits eligible.
