The Executive Health Program offers access to healthcare providers in multiple disciplines designated as Wellness Services. The Executive Health support staff can assist you in coordinating appointments. Our Wellness Services include the following:
Immunizations
Immunizations are essential for your preventative health, in the Executive Health Program we aim to optimize your wellbeing, during your visit we will discuss current Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines and formulate a plan of the needed immunizations that you might be eligible for.
Genetic Counseling and Testing
Genetic counseling and testing is used in select patients for a variety of reasons, including to assess the risk of developing an inheritable health condition, such as certain cancers, degenerative conditions, and cardiopathy, among others. Identification of a specific risk may allow proper intervention before a potential condition develops. Genetic testing may also guide in disease surveillance and provide additional information about a suspected or established diagnosis. Testing can be performed in conjunction with a consultation with a geneticist, who will assess your genetic pedigree, discuss the best genetic panel for your circumstances, and adequately interpret the results for meaningful clinical action.
Nutrition Counseling
A registered nutritionist will meet with you to discuss your lifestyle and to provide evidence-based nutrition recommendations. These may include managing your weight, management of the ratio of body fat to muscle, and/or dietary planning in the context of a specific health condition, such as diabetes, kidney disease, heart disease, or gout.
Exercise Physiology
An exercise physiologist will meet with you to assess your current physical condition and goals based on your aspirations and medical history. The exercise physiology consultation includes recommendations related to:
- Cardiovascular conditioning
- Respiratory health
- Exercises for muscle conditioning and flexibility
- Balance exercises
- Strength and endurance training
- Stress relief techniques
- A discussion of a personalized plan of action to achieve your goals
Travel Medicine
The BWH Travel Clinic provides complete travel medicine consultation for assessing all necessary and required pre-travel immunizations, including difficult-to-obtain vaccines, such as yellow fever and Japanese encephalitis. Patients will receive the MGB 731 form required for entry into certain countries. Patients also will receive advice and prescriptions for avoiding infectious diseases while traveling, such as malaria and traveler’s diarrhea, advice and prescriptions for environmental risks, such as high altitude travel, and advice for travelers with additional health needs such as diabetes or pregnancy.
Integrative Medicine
The Osher Center for Integrative Health was established by Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School to promote holistic patient care through the scientific-based integration of traditional and alternative medicine. Services provided at the Osher Center include: acupuncture, chiropractic care, therapeutic massage, mindfulness-based stress reduction, Tai Chi and yoga.
