The Endocrine Pathology Service of the Division of Surgical Pathology provides comprehensive diagnostic expertise and services relating to the pathology of disorders of endocrine glands including thyroid, parathyroids and adrenals. In addition to evaluation by conventional histology, a variety of specialized immunohistochemical and molecular tests are routinely available. The Service provides diagnostic assessment for the Brigham and Women's Hospital and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute as well as national and international consultations.
Active educational initiatives include daily teaching of students, residents, and fellows, as well as formal lectures. A clinical-pathologic correlation conference is held monthly that enhances interaction with clinical endocrinology, endocrine surgery and endocrine oncology services. Additionally, our faculty are actively involved in clinical/translational research evaluating how molecular diagnostic approaches combined with conventional histology can be utilized to optimally risk stratify endocrine malignancies and guide treatment plans.
