If X-Rays Are Needed Before Your Appointment
Please arrive 30 minutes before your scheduled appointment time to have any required x-rays completed. You may go straight to radiology to complete your x-rays prior to checking in at the orthopaedic clinic front desk for your appointment.
Clinic Check-In
Please be prepared to provide a photo ID and a copy of your insurance card. At check-in, we will ask you to confirm demographic information, such as your mailing address, phone number(s), email address, and Primary Care Physician’s name. Copayments are taken at the time of check-in. We accept checks, debit cards or credit cards. We no longer accept cash.
If you are a new patient, you will be asked to complete a New Patient Self- Assessment form prior to being seen. Please click here to print a copy of the form to complete before your arrival. Please remember to bring it with you when you check in.
Patient Reported Outcomes Measures (PROMs)
You will be asked to complete a questionnaire on an iPad at each appointment. These surveys are part of the Patient Reported Outcomes Measures (PROMs) program at Mass General Brigham. The questionnaire is comprised of, but not limited to, questions regarding your current health status, physical function and ability, and pain level. PROMs questionnaires allow your provider to track your progress before and after treatment or surgery.
Wait Times
We value your time and do all we can to ensure that you are seen as close to your appointment time as possible, but unforeseen factors may cause longer than desired clinic wait times. You may want to bring a book, magazine, iPad, or laptop with you to help pass the time in case clinic wait times are longer than expected. Free wifi is provided at all of our locations. We post wait times in our clinics and update patients as wait times change. Patients should expect to spend 1-2 hours at their appointment from the time they check-in, have seen all the members of their care team, and check-out with follow up instructions and future appointments.
Medical Assistant Rooming
Your clinic visit will be started by a Medical Assistant, who will perform several tasks to prepare the provider to see you. These tasks include reviewing and updating a list of your medications, taking vital signs (height, weight, temperature, and blood pressure), and documenting relevant medical and surgical history. The Medical Assistant may ask you to change into a gown depending on the body part to be examined. PROVIDERS: During your appointment, you may be seen by multiple members of your provider’s care team. This includes medical students, clinical residents, Fellows, research assistants and/or Physician’s Assistants. As a world renowned teaching facility, our providers train and work with students and other clinicians on a daily basis.
Clinic Check-Out
At the conclusion of your appointment, please be sure to stop at the check-out desk to schedule any testing, imaging and follow-up appointments as needed.
After Visit Feedback
After your appointment, you may receive a Press Ganey patient satisfaction survey by mail or email. We would appreciate it if you could take the time to give us feedback on your experience. Feedback from our patients is extremely important and allows us to identify areas for improvement to help create a better patient experience.
