Orthopaedic Spine Fellowship

The Orthopaedic Spine Fellows at Brigham and Women’s Hospital participate in a combined campus fellowship with the Massachusetts General Hospital. The fellowship involves all aspects of adult spinal surgery. This includes treatment of degenerative, deformity, trauma, neoplastic, and inflammatory/ infectious disorders of the spine. There is a positive balance between operative experience as well as inpatient and outpatient clinical exposure. The fellows are exposed to the fundamental principles and application of spinal research. There is a strong focus on utilization of evidence-based medicine in treatment decisions.

The fellows have the opportunity to perform original research and publish high quality peer-reviewed articles under the direction of the fellowship faculty. They are expected to be intimately involved with resident and medical student education, as well as organizing and delivering a series of lectures in adherence to a comprehensive curriculum. At both campuses, the Spine Fellows interact with the Neurosurgical Service to further broaden their clinical experience.
