Brigham and Women’s Midwifery Group was established over 35 years ago as one of the first midwifery practices in Massachusetts. It is our mission to provide high quality, culturally sensitive full-scope midwifery care to a diverse population of women.
The midwives support each person’s right to active participation in health-care decision-making. We are an integral part of the Mary Horrigan Connors Center for Women’s Health. Our practice is actively committed to the education of students in the disciplines of midwifery, medicine and nursing. Educating future health care providers is not only our responsibility but also contributes to a model of care that is up to date with current trends and research.
A hallmark of our practice is the provision of community-based accessible care. We provide continuity of care at nine distinct community health centers in six of Boston's neighborhoods and at Brigham and Women's Hospital. Each site is dedicated to individualized, family-focused care with an emphasis on personal health knowledge. In collaboration with physician staff from the health centers, along with resident and attending physicians from the OB/GYN Department, we provide expert obstetric and gynecologic care to a broad range of women of all ages. We are able to offer prenatal care in English, Haitian Creole, Cape Verdean Creole, Spanish, and French.
