A service for women with complex medical needs provided by the family planning experts at Brigham and Women's Hospital.
Mission
The Contraception Consult Service/High Risk Contraception Clinic (HRCC) provides evaluations for women with significant chronic medical issues. Pregnancy prevention is often essential for these women, but contraception planning may be overshadowed or complicated by their medical demands. Our goal is to prevent unintended pregnancies in this population.
Who Will Benefit from the Service?
HRCC Consultations are intended for women with chronic medical conditions who need contraception. These women may receive the majority of their care from neurologists, rheumatologists, cardiologists, hematologists, or other sub-specialists throughout our hospital system. Women on medications that may decrease the effectiveness of contraception and women undergoing bariatric surgery may also benefit from consultation.
