As a state-designated Level 1 Trauma Center for head and spine injuries, the Department of Neurosurgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital offers 24-hour coverage for all emergency neurosurgical cases. We offer ideal management and treatment options for brain and spinal trauma by providing around-the-clock physician presence and a multidisciplinary surgical approach alongside Orthopedics, Plastic Surgery, Neurology, Psychiatry, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, among other clinical disciplines. Further, we have a state-of-the-art neurosciences intensive care unit providing highly efficient neurotrauma care, including brain tissue oxygen monitoring, cerebral blood flow monitoring, jugular venous saturation monitoring and continuous EEG. Finally, we partner with other members of our treatment team, including nurses, social workers, physical and occupational therapists, chaplains, respiratory therapists, etc. to assist with providing the utmost care for our patients and their families.
