Meet the Deep Brain Stimulation Team

Barbara Kelly Changizi, MD, has expertise in management of patients with movement disorders including Parkinson's disease, dystonia, and essential tremor, with a particular interest in deep brain stimulation (DBS) and focused ultrasound ablation (FUSA) therapies.

Michael Hayes, MD, came to the Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH) to develop the DBS Program and to head the new Department of Neurology at South Shore Hospital as the Vice Chair of Community Neurology at BWH.

Rees Cosgrove, MD, FRCSC, FACS, is an internationally acclaimed stereotactic and functional neurosurgeon with over 30 years of experience in the surgical treatment of Parkinson's disease, tremor, dystonia and other movement disorders.

Michael D. Fox, MD, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School, Raymond D. Adams Chair, and Founding Director of the Center for Brain Circuit Therapeutics at Brigham and Women's Hospital.

Dr. Jennifer Liu is a Parkinson's disease and movement disorders specialist. Dr. Liu's academic interest is in innovative clinical trials, particularly those aimed at slowing clinical worsening in people with Parkinson's disease (PwP) and other parkinsonian syndromes.

Jordan Paulson MD, is an Associate Neurologist at Brigham and Women's Hospital. He has expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of Parkinson's disease, Essential tremor and other Hyperkinetic movement disorders.

John Rolston, MD, PhD, is the Director of Mapping & Engineering Neural Dynamics (MEND) Laboratory.

Stanley Lyndon, MD, is the Director of Education, Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation, Center for Brain Circuit Therapeutics

Deborah L. Green, PhD, assist with determining candidacy for DBS via Neuropsychiatric testing.

Sarah Christie, PA-C, is the PA (Physician Assistant) who works with Dr. Cosgrove in the management of DBS patients. She is responsible for working with Dr. Cosgrove in evaluating candidates for DBS, as well as during the perioperative period for surgical patients.

Andreas Horn, MD, PhD, Director of DBS Research for the Center for Brain Circuit Therapeutics, received an MD from Albert-Ludwigs University in Freiburg, Germany, and a PhD in medical neurosciences from Charité in Berlin. He completed post-doctoral fellowships in medical neuroimaging at the Bernstein Center for Computational Neuroscience in Berlin, Germany, and at the Laboratory for Brain Network Imaging and Modulation at Harvard Medical School.

Dalina Ceku, PA-C, is a physician assistant specializing in movement disorders, including Parkinson disease and essential tremor. She is experienced in pharmacotherapy and management of deep brain stimulators, including programming. She sees patients in both the general Movement Disorders Clinic and the DBS clinic.

Kristie Jones, NP, is a nurse practitioner specializing in movement disorders, including Parkinson disease, essential tremor, and ataxia. She is highly experienced in pharmacotherapy and management of deep brain stimulators, including programming. She sees patients in the DBS clinic, general Movement Disorders Clinic, and the PAMSA clinic.

Cynthia D. Levesque’s role is to coordinate the appointments for DBS and focused ultrasound ablation, and to help our patients navigate this process. She enables the multidisciplinary approach to work seamlessly and is a strong patient advocate.
