Neuromuscular (ACGME) Fellowship
Harvard Medical School/Mass General Brigham (MGB) Neurology offers six positions annually for a one-year ACGME-approved fellowship in Neuromuscular Medicine and Electromyography (EMG). This fellowship is a joint program with Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and fellows rotate at Children’s Hospital Boston, as well. Fellows will be exposed to a wide array of patients with different neuromuscular disorders while rotating through the neuromuscular clinics and become adept and performing NCS/EMG for the spectrum of neuromuscular disorders. Upon completion of this fellowship, trainees are eligible to sit for the Neuromuscular Medicine subspecialty boards under the auspices of the ABPN, and the EMG boards (ABEM). Opportunities for instruction in the performance and interpretation of muscle and nerve biopsies, nerve ultrasound, and single-fiber EMG are also available.
Mass General Brigham is an equal opportunity employer. We encourage women and minorities to apply. Applicants must have completed an ACGME-accredited neurology residency training program.
Fellows rotate in three-month blocks between MGH and BWH. The curriculum includes several regular teaching conferences, including a year-long faculty run lecture series that provides weekly lectures on EMG and neuromuscular medicine, a weekly nerve/muscle biopsy conference, and a weekly EMG waveform conference.
Fellows are expected to complete at least one research project during the fellowship year, under the mentorship of a faculty member in the division of Neuromuscular Medicine.
We are delighted to be participating in the common Neuromuscular fellowship application timeline in conjunction with the AANEM/AAN and participating in the neuromuscular fellowship match. Starting with the initiation of this common timeline, we will be reviewing applications beginning March 1st, 2023 and interviewing in Spring 2023 for the fellowship class beginning July 2024. Please note the AANEM online match portal opens on January 1st, 2023 at which point you can begin entering application materials. We will be performing all interviews virtually.
