Division of Neurocritical Care
The Brigham and Women’s Hospital Neurointensive Care Unit is a specialized ICU dedicated to providing the highest quality of care to critically ill patients impacted by neurologic conditions.
Our expert team is comprised of board-certified neurointensivists, renowned neurosurgeons, neurocritical care advanced practice providers, neurology and neurosurgery residents and fellows, neuroscience critical care nurses, pharmacists, specialized physical, occupational, and speech therapists, respiratory therapists, rehabilitation physicians, dietitians, and dedicated social workers. We work collaboratively to provide 24/7 care with a multidisciplinary and patient-family-centered approach.
Brigham and Women’s Hospital is a Comprehensive Stroke Center and accepts transfers from hospitals from across the region for advanced endovascular stroke therapies and post-stroke care. As a level I trauma center, we also take care of patients with severe brain injuries and are equipped with state-of-the art intracranial brain tissue monitors, 24-hour CT adjacent to the ICU, continuous EEG monitoring, and access to a wide range of specialists both within neuroscience and all other medical specialties.
Our team is made up of board-certified neurointensivists, renowned neurosurgeons, neurocritical care APPs, neurology and neurosurgery residents and fellows, nurses, pharmacists, specialized therapists, rehabilitation physicians, dietitians, and dedicated social workers.
The Departments of Neurology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital offer an ACGME-accredited fellowship in Neurocritical Care. Fellows within the program will train at both Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women's Hospitals in Boston, MA.
Physicians in the Division of Neurocritical Care are also active researchers who train the next generation of neurointensivists through a joint critical care fellowship program between BWH and Massachusetts General Hospital.
