The Department of Neurology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital comprises a diverse yet integrated array of specialized clinical services, including evaluation and management of both inpatients and outpatients, second opinions for complex cases, diagnostic testing and care for the most critically ill.
This collaborative approach enables our team to provide patients with the care they need in a comprehensive and patient focused approach, providing a greater measure of safety, convenience and satisfaction. In 2014 alone, the Department of Neurology offered over 45,000 sub-specialty visits across our distributed campus and over 1,500 inpatient discharges.
Mission
The Department of Neurology aims to provide the best neurological care to patients and their families, create new methods for evaluation and management of diseases of the nervous system and train the next generation of practitioners and academic neurologists.
Vision
The Department of Neurology works continuously to reach the three components of this mission (patient care, research and education) by creating an environment that is most amenable to academic work in the context of market forces, the larger academic and hospital environment and the community’s needs and desires. This involves strategic alliances with Neurosurgery, Radiology, Psychiatry, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Anesthesiology and Emergency Medicine.
