The Women’s Lung Health program is an innovative, multidisciplinary collaboration between healthcare providers and physicians who treat and study lung disease in women. Women and men experience many common lung disorders differently and this program aims to provide comprehensive and tailored disease management to address the specific needs of women patients who have lung disease. Our areas of interest include asthma, chronic lung infections, COPD, dyspnea, genetics, LAM, lung cancer, pulmonary hypertension, and vocal cord dysfunction.
We draw on the significant expertise in women’s health and sex- and gender-based research here at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and bring together an already present community of expert pulmonologists, thoracic surgeons, infectious disease physicians, geneticists, and scientists.
Officially launched in 2013, the Women’s Lung Health Program is a collaboration between the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, the Division of Thoracic Surgery, and the Connors Center for Women’s Health and Gender Biology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Our program is a reflection of commitment of Brigham and Women’s Hospital to excellence in providing gender-specific care and the study of sex differences in disease.
