Becoming a Patient
New patients will be asked to register before scheduling a pulmonary and critical care medicine appointment. To register, you call the Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) registration line at (866) 489-4056, or you may call The Lung Center directly at 1-844-BWH-LUNG and we will connect you.
After registering, ask to be transferred to The Lung Center to speak with one of our patient coordinators who will ask for the following:
- Basic information about yourself
- Your health care insurance information
- The address and phone number of your referring physician(s), if any
- The nature of your illness or concern
Your patient coordinator will tell you the name(s) of the physician(s) you will be meeting and the date, time and location of your appointment. The patient coordinator will let you know what to bring with you to your appointment. If you have any questions, the patient coordinator should be able to provide an answer or will put you in contact with the appropriate person.
If you prefer to have us contact you to schedule an appointment, please fill out the new patient appointment/referral form and we will get back to you.
Returning Patients
If you are an established patient, please call us directly at The Lung Center: 1-844-BWH-LUNG (1-844-294-5864).
Patient Navigators
Patient navigators in The Lung Center are trained professionals who are available to work with patients and families. They can assist in orienting patients to the hospital, inform them about diagnostic testing, interventional procedures and surgery, and, when necessary, accompany them to appointments. Patient navigators also follow-up with patients after they have returned home to ensure that their next phase of recovery is successful.
