Dr. Paul Farmer
Dr. Farmer’s work focuses on the anthropology of infectious disease and engages both social theory and pathophysiology. His research seeks to answer the questions of the effect of large-scale social forces on the distribution and outcome of infectious diseases, the effect of epidemic disease on communities, the effect of scientific error on health policy and practice, the relationship between health and healthcare and human rights, and the effectiveness of projects designed to lessen the impact of epidemic disease.
Dr. Lisa Cosimi
Dr. Cosimi Directs the CDC-funded Program Evaluation and Quality Improvement for the Harvard AIDS Initiative in Vietnam. She has developed curricula for Vietnamese clinicians now implemented throughout Vietnam in order to improve the quality of care and outcomes for HIV-infected patients in Vietnam.
Dr. Sonya Shin
Dr. Shin's research focuses on adherence and integrated service delivery for chronic infectious diseases.
Dr. Peter Drobac
Dr. Drobac focuses on optimizing strategies for the scale-up of community-based treatment programs in Rwanda.
Dr. Corrado Cancedda
Dr. Corrado Cancedda has developed several post-graduate nursing training programs in Rwanda and has launched a Family and Community Medicine residency program for Rwandan medical graduates.
Dr. Serena Koenig
Dr. Koenig conducts clinical and economic studies in Haiti with the goal of maximizing the health outcomes and cost-effectiveness of HIV and TB treatment strategies. She is conducting an NIH-funded study evaluating the cost-effectiveness of earlier initiation of antiretroviral therapy in Haiti.
Dr. Dylan Tierney
Dr. Dylan Tierney is actively engaged in research on the development and implementation of tuberculosis diagnostics; he is working with a multi-disciplinary team of investigators to develop an automated sputum processing module for incorporation into a rapid, point-of-care assay for pulmonary tuberculosis.
