Clinical Care
Dedicated Medical Pancreatologists
Our highly-trained specialists and staff have extensive experience in the diagnosis and management of all types of pancreatic disorders. We care for outpatients in dedicated Pancreas Clinics. Referrals can often be seen the same week to avoid delays in care. Management of complex cases is discussed in a weekly multidisciplinary conference.
Advanced Endoscopic Techniques
Our Center offers advanced endoscopic techniques for the diagnosis and treatment of pancreatic disorders including endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), fine needle aspiration/biopsy (FNA/FNB), endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), placement of pancreatic stents, removal of pancreatic stones, endoscopic necrosectomy, endoscopic cystgastrostomy, and endoscopic celiac plexus blockade.
Abdominal Imaging and Intervention
Our colleagues in the Division of Abdominal Imaging and Intervention employ the latest in imaging technologies and offer a range of procedures including image-guided biopsy and drainage of pancreatic fluid collections.
Surgical Treatment of Pancreatitis
Our pancreatic and biliary surgeons provide expertise for complex operations, including the Whipple procedure, distal pancreatectomy, lateral pancreaticojejunostomy (Peustow procedure), surgical debridement for necrotizing pancreatitis, and total pancreatectomy with islet autotransplantation (TPIAT). Our surgeons have pioneered the use of minimally invasive surgical techniques for many of these operations.
Surgical and Medical Oncology
Our colleagues in the Division of Surgical Oncology and the Gastrointestinal Cancer Treatment Center at Dana-Farber Brigham Cancer Center offer the most advanced treatments for pancreatic cancer, including access to clinical trials.
Pain and Nutritional Support
Our patients have access to a range of support services, including those offered by the Department of Nutrition and the Center for Pain Medicine.
Research
The majority of the members of the Center are active in clinical research, including clinical trials which gauge new methods of diagnosing, monitoring, and treating pancreatic disorders. We actively collaborate with other research centers around the world to advance our knowledge about pancreatic diseases and improve treatment. Learn More about ways to support our work.
Education
We are committed to educating the next generation of pancreatic specialists. Active members have included GI fellows, resident physicians, and medical students from around the world. In 2021, we are pleased to offer the Advanced Medical Pancreatology Fellowship, a collaborative effort to train future leaders in our field.
