Linda S. Lee, MD, has been actively collaborating with the Center for Pancreatic Diseases at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, led by Drs. Peter Banks and Darwin Conwell, in pancreatic research, specifically, pancreatic cysts. She has an American College of Gastroenterology Clinical Research Award to study the role of new molecular markers in the diagnosis of pancreatic cysts. In addition, she has published several papers in the area of endoscopic ultrasound and pancreatic cysts, with more projects underway to address questions of how to accurately diagnose these lesions.
The research interests of Marvin Ryou, MD, include clinical studies in advanced endoscopy (ERCP, EUS, and endoluminal treatment of obesity) and development of new endoscopic procedures and devices.
Christopher C. Thompson, MD, MS, FACG, FASGE, leads the Developmental Endoscopy Lab, which focuses on developing and improving advanced endoscopy techniques and devices. Current research includes the application of innovative endoscopic techniques for post-surgical complications, endoscopic suturing, bariatric endoscopy, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), pancreatic disease, and natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery (NOTES), which enables abdominal surgery without external scarring. The Lab’s work has resulted in multiple patent applications for medical devices and the invention of two endoscopic suturing procedures that are subjects of multi-center clinical trials.
