Brigham and Women’s Hospital Food Allergy Center

The Brigham and Women’s Hospital Food Allergy Center is a patient-care and research group that is focused on bringing new treatments and diagnostic strategies to patients with food allergies. Our team is made up of pediatric and adult allergists with clinical expertise and research interests in food allergy.

How We Can Help

  • We are experts in the evaluation, diagnosis, and management of food allergies and eczema.
  • We offer supervised oral challenges for most foods.
  • We offer peanut oral immunotherapy (also known as peanut desensitization) to all children from infancy up to the age of 17 years. We have one protocol for infants and young children up to the age of 6, and a second protocol using the FDA-approved peanut oral immunotherapy protocol for children age 4 to 17 years.
    • On a case by case basis, we also offer oral immunotherapy for several other foods, including cashew and baked milk, and the types of foods available for oral immunotherapy will continue to increase in the next few years.
  • Through our peanut early introduction pathway, healthy at-risk infants can be treated with peanut to prevent the development of peanut allergy.
    • To reduce the risk of developing peanut allergy, children with eczema or other food allergy risk factors should have skin testing and peanut introduction into the diet starting at 4-6 months of age
    • We offer expedited peanut skin testing and peanut introduction pathway for infants under the age of 24 months.
    • If you are the parent of an infant or toddler with question of food allergy, please let our scheduling team know when you call.
