In addition to providing each nurse with funds for tuition reimbursement and professional development, the Department of Nursing also offers several scholarships to nurses and nurse leaders each year. We are fortunate to have the support of generous donors who fund these opportunities.
Genevieve Hope Blaney Scholarship
Funded by the Gretchen Stone Cook Charitable Foundation, the Genevieve Hope Blaney Scholarship was established in 2008 to provide nurses enrolled in a degree program with scholarships. In 2023, we awarded scholarships to 27 nurses.
Marie Jack Resnick Award
Thanks to the generosity of Mr. Charles Resnick, this scholarship provides one nursing leader per year with financial support to advance their education through a post-master’s certificate or master’s or doctorate degree program.
Cheryl Spencer Memorial Foundation Writing Scholarship
This new scholarship was established by our Research and Innovation Committee to support clinical nurses and nurse educators who seek to publish their scholarly work. The award, which is funded by the Cheryl Spencer Memorial Foundation, was presented for the first time in May 2023.
Neskey Educational Opportunity Scholarship Fund for PCAs
In addition to offering scholarships to nurses, we are also committed to increasing the nursing pipeline and supporting our talented patient care associates who are pursuing a nursing degree. This scholarship was established by the Neskey family for up to four patient care associates (or similar roles) per year to cover the remainder of their BSN degree at the University of Massachusetts Boston.
