Ongoing professional development and learning opportunities are essential to a successful nursing career.

Through innovative, evidence-informed and theory-guided teaching, we provide our nurses with the opportunities to advance their practice and engage in lifelong learning.

At BWH, there are a variety of ways for nurses to engage in programs that advance their practice. These include:

  • Opportunities to work with senior nurse scientists to support nursing research and scholarship

  • Nursing Orientation Program for newly hired nurses
  • Newly Licensed Nurse Orientation Program for new nurses to receive coaching, peer support and additional resources during the first year of practice
  • Degree and certificate programs with funds for tuition reimbursement
  • Continuing education programs on the following topics: charge and preceptor roles, basic dysrhythmia, psychological safety and conscious sedation
