Infectious and Immunologic Disorders Programs

Inflammatory diseases of the lungs can arise from many different causes, but most commonly from infections or immunologic diseases. People with weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable to these conditions. Accurate diagnosis can be challenging.

The Infectious Lung Conditions and Immunologic Disorders Programs at The Lung Center at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) integrate the skills and experience of a multidisciplinary team of specialists: infectious disease physicians, pulmonologists with particular interest in challenging infections, rheumatologists, radiologists, pathologists and thoracic surgeons. These physicians work collaboratively with our diagnostic microbiology and rheumatology laboratories to clarify diagnoses and provide optimal treatments for a range of conditions.

As part of an internationally-known teaching hospital with an acclaimed pulmonary fellowship program, our researchers are developing innovative techniques for adjusting the body’s immune response to better treat the symptoms of infectious and immunologic disorders and reverse disease.
