COVID Recovery Center

The COVID Recovery Center at Brigham and Women’s Hospital provides comprehensive, multidisciplinary care for individuals experiencing ongoing symptoms after COVID-19. Since opening in 2021, our center has supported thousands of patients by offering evaluation, symptom management strategies and connections to specialized care. In addition to clinical support, we connect patients with research opportunities, facilitate support groups and provide educational resources to help individuals navigate Long COVID and their recovery.

How is Long COVID care coordinated?

If you have Long COVID, you may experience a wide range of symptoms that require evaluation by multiple specialists. Our team will conduct a thorough intake to understand your concerns and medical needs. Based on your needs, we will coordinate referrals to specialists, which may include experts in pulmonology, neurology, rehabilitation, neuropsychiatry, and other relevant fields. We will also provide treatment recommendations to your primary care provider to assist them in supporting your ongoing care and recovery.

Can I participate in Long COVID research?

Yes. While there is still more to learn about Long COVID, Mass General Brigham remains at the forefront of research aimed at understanding its long-term effects and improving care. Patients seen through the COVID Recovery Center may have the opportunity to participate in research studies and clinical trials to help advance treatments and inform future care. Participation is entirely voluntary and not required to receive care.

Patients do not need to be existing Brigham patients to be seen in our clinic. While every patient experience is unique, common Long COVID symptoms include:

  • Brain fog and cognitive difficulties
  • Persistent cough or shortness of breath
  • Fatigue
  • Exercise intolerance and post-exertional malaise
  • Headaches
  • Heart palpitations and cardiovascular issues
  • Symptoms of dysautonomia or POTS
  • Loss of taste or smell and related sensory changes
  • Joint and muscle pain
  • Mental health challenges, including anxiety and depression

Which specialists may be involved in my evaluation and care?

We are committed to providing compassionate, holistic evaluation and care. Long COVID can affect multiple organ systems. Depending on your symptoms and needs, your team may include health care providers in:

  • Pulmonology (lung health)
  • Neurology (brain and nervous system)
  • Outpatient Rehabilitation Services (physical, occupational, and speech therapy)
  • Neuropsychiatry (mental health and cognitive symptoms)
  • Pain Medicine
  • Cardiology (heart and vascular health)
  • Infectious diseases

  • Otolaryngology (ear, nose, and throat)

Where is care provided?

We have Long COVID providers at multiple Mass General Brigham locations. During the intake process, we will discuss your symptoms and needs to determine the most appropriate provider and location for your care.

Our team is committed to making care accessible to all patients. If you have concerns about attending your appointment, whether due to transportation, scheduling or financial challenge, please let us know. We can help connect you with resources to support your care. Virtual visits may be available, depending on your eligibility and location.
