The Brigham and Women’s Hospital Lung Center provides expert, individualized care for lung cancer, mesothelioma, thymic malignancies, esophageal cancer and other cancers involving the chest cavity. Thoracic cancers can be challenging to diagnose and often require a combination of life-saving therapies from multiple specialists. Our team of nationally recognized, board-certified surgeons, pulmonologists, medical oncologists and radiation oncologists develop integrated treatment plans for patients with every type and stage of thoracic cancer. At the Dana-Farber Brigham Cancer Center, we offer patients and families access to the very latest in leading edge technology, treatments and clinical trials.
As long-time leaders in the field of thoracic oncology, we offer a wide range of specialized services for our patients. This includes our Lung Cancer Diagnostic and Screening Clinic, our Genetics of Thoracic Cancer specialty and our Women’s Lung Cancer Program. Physician researchers in our acclaimed International Mesothelioma Program pave the way with new discoveries and treatments for mesothelioma. Our physicians are cancer surgery innovators, developing and offering new diagnostic testing and perfecting endoscopic and minimally invasive treatment options such as video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS). In 2012, Brigham and Women’s Hospital performed the first image-guided video-assisted thoracic surgery for lung cancer.
The Lung Center is collectively dedicated to providing the best cancer care available for patients with lung cancer, mesothelioma and other thoracic cancers. Our supportive and specialized environment helps patients confront and conquer cancer while promoting quality of life during and after cancer care.
