Cardiac Sarcoidosis Program

The Cardiac Sarcoidosis Program is composed of a multidisciplinary team of physicians and researchers working together to fulfill a two-fold mission:

1. To provide comprehensive care to patients and families with cardiac sarcoidosis and inflammatory heart disease
2. To use cutting-edge research to make new discoveries and transform the care of patients with cardiac sarcoidosis and inflammatory heart disease

What services does the Brigham offer?

The Program provides personalized care to patients with cardiac sarcoidosis and inflammatory heart disease. Our team members provide recommendations directly to patients after their cases are discussed at regular conferences with specialists from a variety of areas, including The Lung Center at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

Patients have access to a wide array of services at Brigham and Women’s Hospital if their care/condition requires, including:

• Heart rhythm monitoring, such as a Holter Monitor or an Event Monitor
• Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and cardiac positron emission tomography (PET) imaging
• Endomyocardial biopsy
• Permanent pacemaker placement or implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) placement
• Electrophysiology study (EPS) with ventricular tachycardia (VT) ablation if needed
• Cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT)
• Left ventricular assist device (LVAD) implantation
• Heart, lung and heart-lung transplantation
