Our Pathology Lab in Foxborough offers telepathology services (enabling analysis to be done at remote/multiple locations), full phlebotomy services (blood collection), and routine hematology (blood study) and chemistry testing, including:
- complete blood cell count (CBC) – measures amount of red blood cells, white blood cells and hemoglobin.
- CBC and automated differential Count (auto diff) – automated differential measures the different types of white blood cells and their percentage of the overall blood count
- manual differential (blood smear)
- urinalysis
- prothrombin time/international normalized ratio (PT/INR) – measures ability of blood to clot
- partial thromboplastin time (PTT) – to evaluate unexplained bleeding or clotting
- erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) – used to detect conditions associated with inflammation
- comprehensive metabolic panel (CMP) – used to evaluate blood sugar and blood proteins
- basic metabolic panel (BMP) – to asses the status of a patient’s kidneys, blood sugar, and electrolyte and acid/base balance.

- parathyroid hormone (PTH) – measures blood calcium
- hCG – used to confirm pregnancy

- high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hsCRP) – used to help evaluate cardiovascular risks or other conditions involving inflammation
- brain natriuretic peptide (proBNP) – used to help diagnose heart failure
- cardiac-specific troponin T (cTnT) - determine whether a patient has had a heart attack or whether heart muscle has been injured
- creatine kinase – to determine whether a person has had a heart attack or whether other muscles in the body have been damaged
- creatine kinase-MB – to diagnose whether a person has had a heart attack or assess performance of blood-clotting drugs
- D-dimer – to diagnose clotting conditions
- lipase – to diagnose pancreatic disorders
- infectious mono heterophile screen – to detect/diagnose infectious mononucleosis
- rapid influenza A/B
Specimens for other testing – such as microbiology, blood bank or reference testing – are sent to our main campus at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.
