At BWH/MGH HAEMR, junior residents are exposed to the entire spectrum of emergencies and develop advanced proficiency in wide-ranging clinical care, airway management, and other essential procedural skills. We have a clinical training program that provides residents with clear and progressive responsibility during their training, supported by an educational curriculum that includes a wide variety of teaching methods including patient and procedural simulations, evidence-based medicine workshops, mock oral boards training, and crisis resource management training. The four-year format allows residents to develop superlative clinical skills while also exploring areas of academic interest including clinical research, administration, quality & safety, EMS/disaster preparedness, education, international EM, ultrasound, wilderness medicine, and national organizational leadership.
The Mass General Brigham Emergency Department Administration Fellowship, based in two of the top ten hospitals in the US, prepares residency trained Emergency Medicine specialists to become competent, knowledgeable and effective managers and leaders in the complex task of providing effective and efficient care in Emergency Departments.

Emergency ultrasound fellows will have the opportunity to train under five ultrasound fellowship trained faculty members. As an attending, fellows will supervise residents and scan 1-2 times per week with ultrasound faculty.

The Fellowship in Health Policy and Social Emergency Medicine Research falls under the MGB EM-wide Division of Health Services Research (HSR), established in March of 2023. This division supports research to improve the quality, safety, and equity of emergency care delivery and leads activities to support health services research across sites. This fellowship is directed by Dr. Kalpana Shankar (BWH), and the HSR Division is led by Dr. Kori Zachrison (MGH).

The BWH EM/CCM fellowship is an Internal Medicine based critical care fellowship that is designed with close collaboration from the departments of Anesthesia and Surgery. The fellow will receive multidisciplinary critical care experience with a primary foundation in internal medicine/critical care medicine.

The Harvard Medical Toxicology fellowship training program at Children’s Hospital Boston is operated through the hospital’s Emergency Department, in cooperation with Beth-Israel Deaconess Medical Center. The toxicology service currently comprises six staff toxicologists, all of whom are jointly appointed by Children’s Hospital Boston and Harvard Medical School.

STRATUS offers a 2-year, SAEM-approved Emergency Medicine (EM) Fellowship in Medical Simulation. During this hybrid program, fellows will learn and practice all aspects of simulation-based education and research, with a primary role in the Human Factors and Cognitive Engineering Lab. Fellows will also complete a Master of Science in Health Professions Education at the MGH Institute of Health.
