Critical Care for the Smallest Babies

In the region’s most advanced Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), we care for the smallest, most fragile infants, including those born as early as 23 weeks gestation. Here, high tech is accompanied by human touch. Respiratory therapists are integral members of the care team, as are experts in infant nutrition. Some families stay in the NICU for weeks, or even months, while their babies grow and develop. Private rooms enable you to be with your baby 24/7. Parents and babies benefit by the continuity of a consistent nursing team, and you can find community with others in a supportive family lounge.

  • Once beyond the critical stage, babies (and their nursing team) graduate to a Growth and Development Unit where gentle stimulation by sights, sounds and touch foster crucial development and our supportive team prepares the whole family for a successful transition home.
  • Growth and Development teams include the physician, nurse practitioners, primary nurses, physical therapists, feeding specialist, social workers, dietitians, and lactation specialists who partner with you.
  • After discharge, a unique NICU Follow-Up Clinic provides ongoing support until kindergarten age, to ensure that your child is meeting all developmental milestones and to connect you with expert help if needed.
