Unpaid trainees are persons who do not yet have the requisite skills to function as a BWH research employee and are actively enrolled in a closely supervised BWH research program. Trainees are at BWH to gain experience and develop relevant skills in a research laboratory.
Departments that wish to provide unpaid research training opportunities must set up a Departmental Research Training Program (to provide departmental support for training mission, provide leadership, standards, structure and oversight of the training program, ensure trainees receive appropriate daily supervision and training as per the requirements of training, and ensure trainees gain appropriate skills and experience to enable proficiency and completion of training goals).
