Thanks for your interest in volunteering at Brigham and Women's Hospital! As of January 2025, we have temporarily paused all volunteer onboarding. While we would love to have you come on as a volunteer, our hospital is currently transitioning to a new internal onboarding system and we are still working out some logistical issues. As of right now, we do not have a clear onboarding date, but we update this page as soon as we have more information. If you any questions please reach to bwhvcas@partners.org and the Volunteer Coordinator will do their best to get you more information. Thank you for your understanding!
Individuals must be 16 years of age to become a BWH volunteer. Volunteers are asked to make a commitment of at least six months of service.
Most volunteer positions require weekday, daytime availability, however, we do have a few evening and week-end placements. BWH volunteers assist staff in many departments throughout the hospital, such as, but not limited to Central Transport, Wayfinding, Book Cart, and assisting with non-clinical duties on inpatient floors.
Volunteer applicants are required to:
- Interview with the Volunteer Program and Training Coordinator
- Complete application materials and onboarding documentation/be cleared medically by BWH Occupational Health Services (prior to orientation)
- Submit to a HireRight background check
- Attend New Volunteer Orientation (NVO) prior to beginning volunteer placement in the hospital.
We will discuss a department placement during your interview.
The links below provide information regarding onboarding documentation, the NVO schedule, and how to schedule an interview:
We look forward to you becoming a member of the BWH volunteer team.
