Pneumonia is a disease caused by a viral or bacterial infection that fills a patient’s lungs with mucus, thereby lowering the oxygen level in the blood. This can lead to breathing difficulty, fever, cough, and fatigue. To care for our patients with this serious lung infection, we follow a series of recommended treatments.
The table below includes:
- 30-day adjusted medical mortality rate (pneumonia care) – This measures deaths from pneumonia within 30 days of a hospital admission.
- 30-day adjusted medical readmission rate (pneumonia care) – This measures readmission to the hospital within 30 days after a patient has been treated for pneumonia.
