With its innovative construction and state-of-the-art research and clinical space, the new Hale Building for Transformative Medicine brings together leading clinicians and scientists to promote, collaborate and advance care for patients suffering from neurologic, orthopaedic and rheumatologic conditions, such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and rheumatoid arthritis. The new 383,250-square-foot facility at BWH includes three outpatient floors, eight research floors, and an administrative and imaging floor.
The building is home to some of the most powerful imaging capabilities and precise technologies in the world. It houses approximately 30 principal investigators, a 240-person research staff, and the Brigham Innovation Hub, a collaboration among leading experts to further enable partnerships within the Brigham and with industry.
The new facility also includes 400 underground parking spaces, including dedicated spots for electric and low-emission vehicles, a beautiful, centralized infusion suite for patients with a wide range of diseases, from musculoskeletal injuries to rheumatoid arthritis, and a conference center with both small and large meeting spaces. The building has also been designed to achieve environmentally friendly certification. Green design, construction, and maintenance solutions that were selected to attain the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification with a focus on improving efficiency and sustainability.
