Elizabeth (Lisa) Petri Henske, MD, director of the Center for LAM Research and Clinical Care, was recently elected
president-elect of the Harvard Medical Alumni Association (HMAA).
Henske attended Harvard Medical School (HMS) and was
previously a councilor in the HMAA. At BWH, she studies tuberous sclerosis
complex (TSC) and related disorders, including LAM—lymphangioleiomyomatosis, a
progressive lung disease that usually strikes women during their childbearing
years. She received the Scientific Advancement Award from The LAM Foundation in
2000 and the Medtronic Prize from the Society for Women’s Health Research in
2007 for being “an outstanding scientist whose work has led or will lead
directly to the improvement of women’s health.”
The HMAA was established in 1891; its mission is to promote
activities that connect HMS alumni with each other and current students.
