Ossama Al-Mefty, MD |
Ossama Al-Mefty, MD, of the Neurosurgery Department at BWH, is the recipient of the 2011 Herbert Olivecrona Award, presented by the Department of Neuroscience, Karolinska Institute and the Department of Neurosurgery, Karolinska University Hospital. Each year since 1976, a neurosurgeon is honored with The Olivecrona Award to recognize his or her outstanding contributions to the neurosurgical field, based on development of microsurgical techniques, pedagogical skills or scientific contributions. This award was given to Dr. Al-Mefty in recognition of his important contributions to the field of skull base surgery, pioneering surgical techniques, as well as teaching neurosurgeons worldwide through numerous publications.
