Paula Squires, MBA, SHRM-SCP, SPHR, serves as senior vice president of Human Resources for Brigham and Women's Hospital. Squires is passionate about creating an organizational culture in which our 20,000 employees feel valued, rewarded and inspired to do their best work. As part of this cultural transformation, Squires leads the Brigham's system-wide efforts to shape and enhance the Brigham Experience — defined as the patient experience plus employee experience — which aims to cultivate an even more transparent, diverse, inclusive and innovative environment in which to work and receive care. She has extensive experience in human resources in health care settings and a deep understanding of the role that the HR team plays in recruiting, engaging and retaining the right employees.
Prior to joining the Brigham, Squires served as the senior vice president and chief human resources officer for Baystate Health. Earlier in her career, she was vice president of Human Resources at Maine Medical Center and vice president of Human Resources at South Shore Hospital. She also has worked for Harvard Community Health Plan and Mass Eye and Ear.
Squires earned her bachelor’s degree from Bridgewater State College and her MBA from Boston University. She is a Society for Human Resource Management senior certified professional (SHRM-SCP) and holds a senior professional in human resources (SPHR) certification from the HR Certification Institute.
