The Center for Diversity and Inclusion (CDI) aims to enhance workforce diversity by providing career advancement and professional development opportunities and through promoting increased recruitment and retention among all diverse faculty, trainees and staff. CDI’s mission is to promote a vibrant, diverse and inclusive professional community where every person thrives.

The Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
The Brigham Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) supports the organization’s work to increase diversity at all levels, create and sustain a culture of respect and belonging for all employees, and identify and eliminate inequities for patients and employees.
Employee Resource Groups
The Association of Multicultural Member of Partners (AMMP) whose mission is commitment to the advancement, retention, recruitment, and development of multicultural professionals into leadership roles at all levels and areas of the Mass General Brigham organization.
Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) & Allies whose mission is to create a welcoming and affirming environment for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) employees, patients, families and friends.
The BH Young Professionals Board (BH YP) whose mission is to connect, support, and enrich the work lives of the BH Young Professionals’ community. We aim to foster growth and diversity, improve retention through engagement, and cultivate a sense of community among the BH YPs through multidisciplinary collaboration.

Programs and Events
BWH STARS PROGRAM
The Summer Training in Academic Research and Scholarship (STARS) Program is a distinguished summer research opportunity at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) for underrepresented minority (URM) college and first-year medical students with a strong interest in pursuing advanced careers as research scientists, physicians and/or health care professionals. The program recruits students from around the US into an eight-week mentored summer program. The students participate in intensive hands-on training in research methods and practice directly in the labs of the Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School’s leading researchers.

Four Directions Summer Research Program
The Four Directions Summer Research Program (FDSRP) is a unique summer research opportunity at Harvard Medical School (HMS) and Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) for undergraduate students with a commitment to the health of Native American communities. The program recruits students from around the US into an eight-week mentored summer program. Students engage in a basic science or translational research project under the direction of a Harvard Medical School Faculty Mentor, culminating in a final project presentation. Additional activities include Clinical Shadowing, Career Development Seminars and weekly Circle Ups. Upon completion of the program, students leave BWH and HMS with new skills, experiences and knowledge that can be used to empower themselves, their communities and future generations of Native peoples from all Four Directions.
