The H. Richard Nesson Fellowship at Brigham and Women's Hospital was established in 1997 to recognize Dr. Nesson's 15 years of extraordinary leadership as president of the Hospital and his lifelong commitment to public and community health. Dr. Nesson was one of the nation’s leaders in health care policy and an unfailing advocate for a system that provides both access and quality health care to all.
The H. Richard Nesson Fellowship is a tribute to that legacy. The two-year fellowship is awarded annually to an outstanding and promising health care professional interested in health care policy, local or state community health research, or other community clinical care initiatives that address society's critical and emerging health care needs. Individuals selected for the Nesson Fellowship embody Dr. Nesson's characteristics of trailblazing leadership, the ability to anticipate and shape the future, and a lifelong commitment to provide access and quality health care for all.
