The BWH community health assets and needs assessment (CHNA) identifies community health assets, needs, and opportunities to improve community health and health equity in the hospital’s five priority neighborhoods of Dorchester, Mattapan, Mission Hill, Jamaica Plain, and Roxbury. The CHNA is a key source document for community health planning processes. Non-profit hospitals are required to conduct a CHNA every three years to meet federal and state requirements, including the provisions of the Affordable Care Act.
The 2022 community health implementation plan (CHIP) outlines hospital plans to address the identified priorities and needs of the CHNA. To optimize resources and standardize efforts across Mass General Brigham Boston area hospitals, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital, and Mass General Hospital have joined together to develop a joint Boston and North Suffolk 2022 Implementation Plan. The Implementation Plan includes select hospital efforts that enable the goals, objectives, and strategies that address community needs. Each hospital continues to work in their priority neighborhoods and communities while collaborating across Mass General Brigham to support all efforts outlined in the Implementation Plan.
The 2022 BWH CHNA builds upon the foundation of past assessments and has been shaped through the hospital’s participation in the Boston Community Health Collaborative.
