Community Health Impact Funds

Brigham and Women's Invests in Stable Housing

Brigham and Women's Hospital, through its Center for Community Health and Health Equity, has awarded $1.797 million to community organizations working to improve housing stabilization in Brigham and Women's priority neighborhoods of Mattapan, Mission Hill, and Roxbury. The funding will have a specific focus on eviction prevention and housing production.

Funds were made possible through a community health improvement allocation associated with the approval of a determination of needs application for the 2017 emergency department renovation, a radiation and oncology equipment partnership, and purchase of radiology equipment.

Foxborough Determination of Needs (DoN)

In December 2019, BWH received approval from DPH for a DoN application to expand MRI and CT imaging services at the Brigham and Women's/Mass General Health Care Center in Foxborough, now called the Mass General Brigham Healthcare Center (Foxborough). In late 2019 through early 2020, an Ad-Hoc Sub-Committee comprised of local Foxborough leaders was established to identify priority health needs that should be addressed with this investment. As part of this process, three community meetings were held in February 2020 to gather community input as part of this identification process. Through these efforts, the following two key areas for investment were identified and subsequently approved by DPH: 1) Expanding transportation access; and 2) Mental health linkage systems.

Funding was allocated and distributed to the following organizations through the Foxborough DoN process:
