Overweight and obesity have reached epidemic proportions in America, which profoundly affects each person it touches. Being overweight or obese increases the risk of diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, joint pain, heartburn and sleep disorders. Being overweight or obese can also have painful social and emotional consequences that seriously affect day-to- day life. We recognize that being overweight or obese is truly a disease, which has many causes that are beyond a patient's control. At Brigham and Women's Hospital, we understand these issues and draw on our experience and compassion to create a plan that is suited to meet each person's needs.

Brigham and Women's Hospital has earned accreditation as a
Level 1A Center of Excellence by the American College of Surgeons (ACS). The American College of Surgeons Bariatric Surgery Center Network Accreditation Program endorses the highest quality care for bariatric surgery patients.
