Dr. Pollak conducts research bridging clinical disease and laboratory research. His laboratory studies the genetic basis of certain kidney disease by collecting blood samples from individuals and family members with kidney disorders. Current studies are focused on the genes underlying protein leakage into the urine as is seen in focal segmental glomerulosclerosis and other forms of nephrotic syndrome.
