Welcome to the site that describes our service that performs interventional radiology procedures guided by US, CT, and MRI. The Cross Sectional Interventional Radiology (CSIR) performs percutaneous biopsy, fluid aspiration, and catheter drainage of fluid collections. Percutaneous tumor ablation guided by ultrasound, CT, and a special interventional MRI system is also offered. Radiofrequency ablation and cryoablation techniques are used to eradicate tumors throughout the body using needle-size therapy probes placed through the skin under imaging guidance.
Radiology Fellow Anthony Caravello, MD, and Attending Radiologist Cheryl Sadow, MD, perform a transgluteal abscess drainage on a patient using BWH’s new Siemens Sensation Open CT.
