
One of two health centers licensed by Brigham and Women's Hospital, Brookside Community Health Center provides multi-disciplined, comprehensive integrated care with services in the following areas: adult medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics (including midwifery), family planning, gynecology, dentistry, oral surgery, nutrition/WIC, mental health and social service.
Each year, more than 10,000 patients from Jamaica Plain and the surrounding neighborhoods use these services, making more than 69,000 visits to Brookside each year. The health center's services are provided by a bilingual Spanish/English medical and professional staff.
Special services include: a school dental program; orthodonture; case management; substance abuse services; mental health and support group programs for adults, adolescents, children, families and couples; a WIC program; nutrition and physical fitness youth programs; prenatal parenting classes as well as breastfeeding support. Free mammograms are offered twice a year through the American Cancer Society. Most specialty referrals are made to Brigham and Women's Hospital, Children's Hospital, and other local health centers. .
