The following is a description of the Health Connection program:
"Brookside has also taken a leading role in becoming one of the original Health Centers in Boston to collaborate with The Center for the Study of Sport in Society’s Fitz Urban Youth Sports- Health Connection.
Health Connection focuses on helping urban youth make the connection between being physically active and leading a healthy lifestyle. Programs highlight nutrition, physical activity, and healthy lifestyle choices. By partnering with neighborhood health centers and understanding their needs, this unique collaboration is able to work with physicians and nutritionists to provide physical and nutritional programs to patients of the health centers as well as neighborhood youth who are at risk for overweight, obesity and diabetes.
The goal of Brookside’s Health Connection is to improve the health and wellbeing of urban youth by providing physical activity opportunities, while at the same time ensuring all participants are receiving quality medical care. More specifically, Brookside has been able to successfully provide girl specific physical activity groups in the past due to a collaborative community effort."
Jennifer Molina is the current Sports Program Coordinator at Brookside. Jennifer places local youth from ages 7-14 in fitness programs located in the community. If you have a child who could benefit from a program aimed at promoting physical fitness and nutrition education, call or email Jennifer to schedule an appointment or meeting.
