The Department of Neurosurgery at Brigham and Women's Hospital offers patient-oriented, high technology care for all neurological disorders, including brain tumor surgery, spine surgery, and treatment of other related spinal, neurological, and cerebrovascular problems. It is divided into the division of cerebrovascular surgery, brain tumor surgery, spine surgery, and general neurosurgery. The department is dedicated to achieving excellence in patient care, teaching and research. Its clinical service is provided without discrimination.
Our goal is compassionate and effective care to patients with neurological disorders, and it is enhanced through the advancement of scientific knowledge and technical expertise.
Designed around neurosurgery and other cerebrovascular concepts, our teaching programs are designed to promote understanding of neurosurgery (including brain tumor surgery and spine surgery) and to inspire caring for patients, technical and surgical skill, and scientific inquisitiveness. Its research efforts in neuroscience and tumor biology aim to achieve significant scientific discovery while being relevant to neurosurgical practice.
The physicians in our neurosurgery department, each of whom has an area of cerebrovascular subspecialization, strive to function as a group in an atmosphere of collegiality and mutual respect. Our goal is to provide timely, compassionate and excellent care to our patients. The neurosurgery group promotes multidisciplinary collaboration in the medical and scientific communities and is committed to the continual improvement and growth of its comprehensive program, which addresses the needs of patients through the integration of science and quality care.
