Now Professor Emeritus, Dr. Trier has been a member of the Division for more than 30 years and was its director for 15 years. A past president of the American Gastroenterological Association and recent recipient of the Association’s Julius Friedenwald Medal for Lifetime Achievements in Gastroenterology, he continues to maintain an office in the basic science area of the GI Division and the Department of Medicine and to participate in the academic didactic and clinical activities of the Division, including consult attending rounds and medical attending at the BWH. Dr. Trier has authored or co-authored more than 210 basic and clinical original publications, reviews and textbook chapters. His substantial base of administrative, research and clinical experience makes him a most valuable personal resource in the Division.
